Why Should I Test at Nordson's Liquid Lab?

What are Nordson's Lab Capabilities?

Nordson maintains a liquid customer test laboratory and demonstration facility that is capable of running four independent customer tests simultaneously. Here, products are coated, duplicating as close as possible customers' parts, coating material, operating speeds and other production parameters. 

The facility utilizes leading-edge technology and equipment to simulate actual production situations and to meet a wide range of coating requirements. Lab equipment includes rotary atomizers, as well as a wide variety of pumps, guns, and automatic gun movers.

The Nordson liquid test lab features dry filter spray booths, variable-speed conveyors with power rotators, and variable stroke-speed reciprocators and oscillators. The lab's coating areas also include a gas convection oven as well as chain-on-edge, overhead and flatline conveyors. Conference rooms adjacent to the testing areas facilitate discussion of test procedures and results.

The test facility includes liquid coating applications systems designed to handle new, environmentally compatible materials and to meet increasingly stringent safety and emissions standards of the liquid finishing industry. The lab also features Iso-Flo® HD voltage-block systems for safe, efficient electrostatic application of waterborne coatings.

This complete range of Nordson equipment and systems accommodates a wide variety of part configurations from automotive components to refrigerator cases, from steel and wood furniture to general sheet metal and plastic products.

What Materials Do I Need to Provide?

To provide you with a successful test and demonstrate the maximum benefits of our systems, it is critically important that we have the proper materials. To ensure this happens, please use the following checklist:

• A minimum of 8 to 10 full racks of cleaned, ready-to-be-coated parts
• A sample of a coated, unretouched part, if possible
• A minimum of three hangers for each part type
• A Nordson representative will advise you of how much coating material is required for the test. The material, whether shipped from your facility or from your coating supplier, must be accompanied by an MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) and a TDS (Technical Product Data Sheet).

Please identify all materials (including any material shipped from your coating supplier) with the lab project number assigned.

What Happens After the Test?

We will be happy to provide you with the following:

• Detailed test documentation
• Finished parts
• A videotape of the test

All coating materials will be returned to your company or your material supplier.
