Nordson Europe complete a major upgrade to its laboratory testing facilities in Germany. “The improved facilities give our customers the ability to work closely with our technicians in an expanded environment to test our exciting new products” stated Andre de Veer, Managing Director of the Surface Finishing Group.

Debuting in the new facility is third generation powder coating equipment, the pioneering dense phase Prodigy™ HDLV™ (High Density, Low Velocity) technology.

Prodigy™ products in operation include the innovative automatic gun, the first gun designed specifically for precision dispensing using dense phase pumping technology. The guns’ unique geometry provides soft spraying performance and unbeatable color change functionality, increasing first pass transfer efficiency. The gun is powered by Prodigy™ powder pumps, the production proven method to dispense and transport powder with reduced air, without using moving pistons.

Incorporated in the new installation is Powder Port, the most modern powder feed centre available, providing a clean safe environment for sieving and quick colour changes.

“The new Prodigy™ family of spraying products allows process control to be demonstrated for the first time in a powder coating environment, something that excites all our customers – including their accountants” declared de Veer.

The Centre of Excellence facility also now features three new booths, including the leading colour change booth on the market, ColorMax³. Customers visit the Centre of Excellence to see four minute colour changes after coating their own products in a production environment.
